Uniques & Experimentals
These are unique works printed on non-traditional media such as handmade special papers, water colour paper, plast film, plexiglass, canvas, various cotton and - in particular - metals such as steel (lacquered, brushed, raw), aluminium, copper and zinc.
Some of them contain hand-painted colours shaping the bottom on which the print is done as well as post-print hand-coloration.
What I believe makes them special is not only the variety of media they are printed on but also that they are, with the exception of a few UV processed images, ink-jet prints.
This secures that the surface texture contains the brush strokes from the underlying coating and/or paint, the scratches, unevenness, etc. of the media on which they are printed.
It's exciting to explore how photographic images acquire a new character when printed on other media than fine art papers. The interaction of the hand-coating of water colour papers, glass, copper, steel or aluminium with the metal and the ink pigment is complex; thus, there is always an element of chance in the final print.
The metal plates I have used so far are scraps with scratches, perhaps some coloration, a bent corner or some notes on them.
These elements of uniqueness make them more expensive than the limited edition prints. All the works however are below US$ 1.000. For the price of single works, please write me.
The photos of the pictures do not do full justice to the originals since glass and metals invariably creates reflections no matter the light source.
On the famous other hand, when these works hang on the wall with sunshine or electric light on them, they may appear in similar ways as you see here.
A number of these works have been produced in co-operation with Anders Jonsson, AchivalInkJet in Lund. He is also the one who enlightened me on the possibility of doing ink-jet printing on metal.
